Listen. Then do.

You have the idea.
I get it done.

You’re successful already. Now there is a second idea, a new venture, a thing you keep meaning to start, but no bandwidth to get to it. That is the job I do. Think of me as the general contractor for your new venture, your idea to launch partner.

You bring the idea. I work out exactly what it takes and what it costs, then I assemble and run the people who build it.

No reports that sit in a drawer. No equity. No permanent seat.

The problem

You are not short of ideas. You are short of time to bring them to life.

You have the ability, the network and the resources. What you do not have is a spare three months to write the plan, set up systems, find suppliers, hire the team and get a new thing off the ground on top of running the business you already have.

So the idea sits there. It has been sitting there for a while.

Why the usual options fall short

× [ consultants ]

Hand you a document

They describe it, then move on. You wanted it done, not described.

× [ agencies ]

Need constant direction

You do not have the hours to manage them on top of everything else.

× [ co-founders ]

Want equity and a say

In a business you intend to own outright. A stake you did not want to give.

× [ freelancers ]

Lack the seniority

Not senior enough to make the calls you would make yourself.

What you actually need is one senior person who can understand the whole picture, work out exactly what it takes, and then go and make it happen without being managed.

How it works

How it works: four steps, from idea to ready to build.

I keep this deliberately simple and transparent, so you know what you are getting and what it costs before you commit to anything.

Step 01

A free 30-minute call

You tell me the idea. I ask the questions that matter. We decide together whether this is worth taking further. No charge, no pitch.

Step 02

A short scoping document

I write back what I have understood: the shape of the venture, what you want, what success looks like. This confirms we are building the same thing.

Step 03

A fixed quote for The Ukuva Plan

A firm, fixed price for the planning work, quoted to the requirements we agreed, payable half up front and half on completion. You know the number before I start.

Fixed fee · quoted up front
Step 04

Optional execution

You keep the plan and run it yourself, or you engage me to assemble and run the team and suppliers who deliver it. Either way, the plan is yours.

The Ukuva Plan

What it takes to make your idea real, costed and ready to build.

The Ukuva Plan is the core of what I do. It is a fixed-fee planning engagement that turns your idea into a clear, costed, executable plan: what needs to happen, in what order, who does it, what it costs, and where the risks are. It is written to be handed to a team and built, not to sit on a shelf.

By the end you have a plan you could execute yourself, and a standing offer to have me assemble and run the people who execute it for you. You own it either way.

Inside The Ukuva Plan

  • The shape of the venture and what “done” looks like.
  • The sequence of work, in the order it has to happen.
  • The suppliers and people needed to build it.
  • A realistic cost, with no optimism inflation.
  • The risks and decisions, with my recommendation on each.
What I do

To be clear: I plan and orchestrate. I do not build in-house.

This is the one thing worth being precise about, because it is easy to assume otherwise.

I do

Work out exactly what your venture needs, cost it, sequence it, then assemble and coordinate the team and suppliers who make it real, using my network rather than building everything myself. I present you with options and you sign off on the direction and the risk. I am the guide who frames the decisions and runs the delivery.

I do not

Write the code, design the product myself, or run your existing business day to day. I am not your developer and I am not your COO. I am the person who gets the whole thing built and keeps it moving.

Why me

Twenty years getting hard things done, across industries.

I do not lead with adjectives. I have spent about twenty years building, launching and fixing things in payments, fintech, streaming and cross-border markets, always with real delivery accountability, never as an adviser on the sidelines. A few examples of the kind of hard things I have got done:

01

Opened PayPal to a market that was shut out

I solved the exchange-control problem that stopped South Africans from using PayPal. I built the case, secured South African Reserve Bank approval, and ran the joint build with PayPal end to end. That solution still runs today, and was later extended into Kenya.

02

Launched streaming across a continent

As a founding team member at Showmax, part of Naspers, I built the payments and subscription function from scratch and set up operations across sub-Saharan Africa.

03

Turned an acquisition into a working business

After DT One acquired MODE, I stepped in as COO and then Interim CEO to integrate the two businesses, rebuild the technical team and restructure partner deals.

That depth is why clients trust me to plan a venture properly and to know who to call to build it. The sectors change. The discipline of shipping hard things does not.

Case studies

Proof in practice.

Regulatory

Getting South Africans onto PayPal

South Africans were locked out of PayPal by exchange-control regulation. I built the regulatory case, secured Reserve Bank approval, and managed the full development and launch of a joint solution across several organisations and time zones.

It launched, it still runs, and I extended the same model into Kenya through a local bank.
Market entry

Launching a streaming service across a continent

As a founding team member at Showmax, I set up payments, subscriptions and partnerships from nothing, negotiated commercial terms with studios, telcos, ISPs and banks, and led the localisation into Kenya and Nigeria.

The service launched and scaled across the region.
Integration

Turning an acquisition into a working business

When DT One acquired MODE, I went in first as COO in Singapore, then as Interim CEO in Nairobi. I integrated the acquired business, recruited a new technical team in the Czech Republic, and restructured the partner agreements.

The business came out of it with a functioning team and no loss of continuity.

Common questions

See all questions

I turn the idea into a clear, costed plan, then assemble and run the team and suppliers who build it. You stay as involved as you want to be. Think of me as the general contractor for your new venture: you own it, I make it happen.

No. I plan the venture and orchestrate the people who build it, using my network. I am not a developer and I do not build in-house. That is deliberate: it keeps me focused on getting the whole thing shipped rather than one part of it.

A co-founder takes equity and shares control. A consultant hands over advice and leaves. I do neither. I work on a fixed fee, I take no stake, and I stay accountable for delivery until the venture is real, then the engagement ends.

The Ukuva Plan is a fixed fee, quoted up front to your requirements and split half on start and half on completion. You get a firm number before any work begins. Execution, if you want it, is quoted separately once the plan is set.

No. My background is in payments and fintech, which is where a lot of my proof comes from, but the work is sector-agnostic. What I bring is the discipline of shipping hard things and a network to build them, whatever the industry.

Ukuva is the isiXhosa word for to listen, or to hear. It is also why the elephant appears in the logo: the animal with the largest ears, and the longest memory. The name is the method. I listen properly first, then I plan and get the thing built.
